At a pub in London in 1990.

I left Iran for England in 1967.  I first enrolled at South-Gate Technical College in North London.  I had planned to study Law.  However, I found my courses boring and after a couple of years I went to London University’s College of Journalism, where I graduated from, in 1972.  I had not yet wrtitten any of my songs.  That came about when I took my English wife and London-born daughter, Phaedra, to Los Angeles.  I managed a carpet store in Orange County and travelled to West L.A. almost every night.  There were very few Iranians in L.A. at that time and you could see the same crowd in the regular haunts.  “Ageh Ye Rooz” was written in my head as I drove from Orange County to a club in Hollywood.  When I arrived there, I picked my guitar up and sang it.  My friends were ecstatic and pleaded with me to seriously consider becoming a recording artist.  They won!!
